In 2004, he received a Grammy as a member of the distinguished Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The following year, after thirty-five years in the business, he finally launched his solo career to worldwide acclaim with the release of his debut album, It’s SHOtime. The track “Homenaje Al Bailador” was selected for a soon-to-be-released film, Padre Nuestro. From outdoor festivals in the Bronx all the way to Lincoln Center, Chino has performed in a broad array of venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Montreal Jazz Festival and Newport Jazz Festival. He’s also appeared in numerous Broadway shows including “Evita” and “The Lion King.” He even made a cameo in the major motion picture Moscow on the Hudson starring Robin Williams and Maria Conchita Alonzo, and recently recorded a jingle for Univision with his band Chino Nunez & Friends. In his recording studio, JanMar Productions, he works tirelessly to compose, arrange and produce a wide array of musical projects — from Latin jazz to reggaeton, hip hop and R&B — infused with his unique, rhythmic style.
